Man killed when friend drops gun
SAN DIEGO – A 21-year-old man was fatally shot while being shown a gun that fell and accidentally fired early Sunday in the Bay Ho neighborhood, a police lieutenant said.
Police and paramedics were called to the 4900 block of Gallatin Way near Delta Place about 1 a.m. and found the mortally wounded man lying on a residence’s front lawn, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso, San Diego police Lt. Mike Hastings said.
He was taken to a hospital, where he died, according to Hastings. His name was withheld pending family notification.
Witnesses told police the victim’s long time friend was showing him a gun, when it fell to the ground and discharged, Hastings said.
Hastings said investigators were questioning the victim’s friend.
