Hit-run crash injures 2 in Encinitas

Sheriff's Tape LineENCINITAS, Calif. — A hit-and-run accident injured two pedestrians Thursday afternoon at an intersection near Moonlight Beach.

A maroon sedan struck the victims at D Street and South Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas shortly before 3:30 p.m., sheriff’s Lt. Clayton Lisk said. The driver fled the area to the north, he said.

Medics took the injured people to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and Tri-City Medical Center.

It was not immediately clear how badly they were hurt, the lieutenant said.
