Arson blamed for fire in occupied garage

City Heights Garage FireSAN DIEGO — A fire that burned a garage where two people were living Monday morning was started on purpose, arson investigators said.

The fire was reported after 4:30 a.m. on 36th Street between El Cajon Boulevard and Orange Avenue in City Heights.  Fire crews extinguished the blaze in about 20 minutes.

Investigators said two people were living in the garage, but no one was injured in the fire.

Arson investigators were looking into the cause, but they said that preliminary evidence indicated that someone threw a burning object into the garage in connection with a domestic dispute.
