City of Chula Vista gets behind their little leaguers

CHULA VISTA, Calif. – A young baseball team from Chula Vista has captured the nation’s attention by making it to the U.S. Championship of the Little League World Series.

The West FansNow, the city of Chula Vista is asking for San Diego County to show their support for the Eastlake Little League team by wearing green, the team’s uniform color, Friday.

The Eastlake team is scheduled to compete in the U.S. Championship game Saturday at 12:30 p.m.  Their opponent will be the winner of Thursday evening’s game.

Fans interested in joining the excitement can go to the Eastlake Tavern and Bowl to watch the game.

Volunteers from the league are selling merchandise to help cover the cost of the trip for the families.

This is the second Chula Vista team to make it to the championship.  In 2009, Chula Vista Little League team brought home a Little League World Series Championship title.
