The Autobots and Decepticons descended upon San Diego during the Annual, Traveling BotCon. The convention has been traveling for quite a bit of years now, farthest back I’ve seen is 2005, but I hear its been longer. Of course starting when it was just a fan based gathering of collectors, it has since, Like other cons, evolved into the better panels, larger venues and bigger dealers..
Being a child of the 80s and actually owning a few of the original pieces myself, I was of course curious to see what a Transformer specific convention was all about. Now I consider myself a well rounded geek, as much as I know about Transformers, you really can’t compare yourself to any “real” collector. Which is true in any sense, when it comes to collections, some people take their collections seriously and just like the saying “Ones man’s trash is another man’s treasure”, I saw some pieces here that I used to abuse when I was a kid, cause what kid back in the 80s actually kept their toys in the box? And when you did play with them, who didn’t drop it from the roof of your house in an all out attack on the Decepticons invading your house from the lawn? Point is.. we played with our toys.. LOL.
If only we knew then, what we know now.. holy crap would I have a few extra bucks in my pocket.. check out some of the prices, and yes, that’s what they were really priced..
Overall, the convention is perfectly tailored for the very avid to hardcore Transformer collector.
