Camp Pendleton warns of live-fire training exercise

marinescombatCAMP PENDLETON — Marines at Camp Pendleton will conduct live-fire artillery training next week and noise from the exercises may be heard up to 50 miles away, base officials announced Friday.

Live-fire artillery training is scheduled from 6 a.m. to midnight Monday through Friday, according to Camp Pendleton’s public affairs office.

Residents with questions can call base officials at (760) 725-0357.

    I understand the need for this training, but why do it in the summer during the height or the wildfire season? You can set your clock by Camp Pendleton fires due to live ammunition and flares. Can't be good for air quality, water shed or wildlife.
