Several hurt during brawl on Viejas Reservation

Viejas Brawl ALPINE, Calif – A brawl involving baseball bat-swinging combatants left several people injured and at least one assault suspect under arrest at Viejas Indian Reservation Wednesday.

The fracas on the Alpine-area tribal grounds erupted for unknown reasons about 9:30 a.m., according to sheriff’s officials.

The fight, which reportedly involved at least 10 men and woman, moved across several locations around Woods Lane and Viejas Grade, Lt. Dave Brown said.

Deputies and detectives intervened and had the disturbance under control by 10 a.m., the lieutenant said.

Medics took at least one patient to Sharp Memorial Hospital.

What happen's on any reservation in San Diego county is not the concern of those who do not live on any Reservation. Unless you are from a Reservation, you will not ever understand how Reservation life is like. Viejas People are peace loving people. You on the outside, have no idea about reservation life. Just like anywhere else in the world, life right now is hard, for everyone. The comments that have been posted are made by people who are clueless and have no idea about our Native Peoples. We know our History. And we are still here as the first and only people who truley belong in San Diego. Don't like it, go back where you all came from…………..Nativesisters

You're right. We don't live on the reservation but we live around you. When I first moved to Alpine, I thought the reservation was the perfect place to walk. I was warned very early on how dangerous it truly is. I found much of the danger comes from some of the younger members of the "Native Peoples"

I get that Tribal land has different laws, and I am more than willing to respect and abide by the rules set by Tribal rules/laws, but please do not put yourself above others!!
