Seaworld Facebook fans name baby orca

SeaWorld SAN DIEGO – A four-month-old male orca calf at Sea World San Diego has a name, which was chosen by nearly 12,000 fans on Facebook during a week long contest, park officials announced.

About 40 percent of the voters chose the winning name Makani, which in Hawaiian means “the wind,” for the calf born to mother Kasatka on Valentine’s Day, according to Sea World.

Other choices were Valentino, which is Italian for “strong,” and Hako, that has a Scandinavian meaning of “chosen son.”

Makani is Kasatka’s fourth calf and the sixth successful orca birth at Sea World San Diego, park officials said.

It is not an "orca" calf! That is wrong! The correct scientific name is: ORCINUS ORCA calf! If you use just "orca" you're being lazy!
