Alaska Airlines adds nonstop flight from San Diego to Kauai

alaskaairlinesSAN DIEGO — Alaska Airlines kicked off nonstop service Friday between San Diego and Lihue, Hawaii, on the island of Kauai.

The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority staged a ribbon-cutting at Lindbergh Field with a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony and a reception.

Kauai is the third island to be served by Alaska Airlines from San Diego, joining Maui and Oahu.

The Boeing 737-800 departed San Diego just after 10 a.m. and arrived on the “Garden Island” at 12:33 p.m. Hawaiian time.

The return run leaves Lihue at 11 a.m. Hawaiian time and arrives at Lindbergh Field at 7:20 p.m.
