SAN DIEGO — Tuesday is the deadline to register to participate in San Diego County’s 2013 Online Tax Sale Auction, which will offer more than a score of of tax-defaulted properties to the highest bidders.
“We currently have a total of 28 tax-defaulted properties available for auction, including nine improved and 19 unimproved parcels,” Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister said in a statement.
Available properties are listed at www.bid4assets.org, which is hosting the auction and where participants need to register. The four-day online auction is scheduled to be held from Saturday to next Tuesday.
Registration is free but all would-be bidders are required to put down a $1,000 deposit. The deposit will be applied toward any successful bid or refunded to bidders who fail to obtain any property.
All properties going to the highest bidder have had an outstanding property tax liability for five years or more, McAllister said.
Minimum bids for each property is set individually based on the total amount of back taxes, penalties and sales costs.
