Nathan Fletcher switches again, becomes Democrat

SAN DIEGO – Former assemblyman Nathan Fletcher has decided to join the Democratic Party.

fletcherFletcher posted a lengthy announcement to his Facebook page and in an email sent to supporters Saturday morning explaining his decision.

“I was reluctant to make this move. It wasn’t due to any doubt about where I belong. It was simple dread over the criticism I would face,” he said. “Despite my change in partisan affiliation, I have no animosity towards the Republican Party. I know many good people there, including friends, co-workers, and many I hold in high regard. I just owe it to them and myself to admit that I don’t belong anymore.”

Just over a year ago, Fletcher made national news when he switched from the Republican Party to become Independent in the middle of his campaign for Mayor of San Diego.  He ended up losing the election to Democrat Bob Filner.

In 2008, Fletcher was elected to the State Assembly as a Republican. Since leaving office, he has secured a position with Qualcomm and UCSD.

The former politician also contributes to Fox 5 in a weekly segment called “Nathan Fletcher Notes.”

Seems a bit on the hypocritical side to me. I seem to remember when he left the Republican party that he was fed up with partisan politics. Guess he's ready to go back to being part of the problem. He probably wasn't used to standing on his own two feet and needed new puppet strings to hold himself up again.

Can this clown make up his mind? It seems that he will swing any way the wind blows ,like a flag with unpredictable winds. He is so unpredictable and unreliable that we have to question his motives . It is crucial at this moment in America and all over the world to elect rock solid politicians that will stand strong to do the right thing when the winds of politics become uncertain.

I wonder how Qualcomm and UCSD will trust his decision making. Selecting a political party affiliation seems to be one of the easiest decisions to make for most folks.
