la-mesa-police LA MESA, Calif. – La Mesa police are on the lookout for a pair of purse-snatchers who stole a woman’s handbag in the Grossmont Center parking lot.

The woman was robbed of her handbag while loading her shopping bags into her car parked near the Walmart at 5500 Grossmont Center Drive about 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, according to La Mesa police Sgt. Jim Huggins.

The purse-snatchers drove up to the woman in a silver Ford Ranger and the passenger in the pickup leaned out of his door window and grabbed the handbag, Huggins said in a statement.

The victim fought to keep her bag and a short struggle ensued, Huggins said, noting the purse-snatcher eventually won out.

No one was hurt.

The purse-snatchers were last seen driving away westbound on Murray Drive.   Police described the passenger who grabbed the bag as a man with short brown hair, last seen wearing a white T-shirt. No description of the driver was available.

Anyone with information about either suspect was asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
