Neighbors come to aid of screaming woman

Ocean Beach Assault SuspectSAN DIEGO — A 25-year-old man was behind bars Monday on suspicion of jumping a woman on an Ocean Beach roadside, then beating and trying to rape her.

A 911 caller reported hearing the woman screaming for help in the area of Bacon and Voltaire streets about 10:15 p.m. Sunday, according to San Diego police.

When witnesses ran to her aid, the assailant bolted and fled toward Robb Field, SDPD Detective Gary Hassen said. Patrol officers found  a suspect near the park a short time later and took him into custody.

Richard Christopher Butts,was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of kidnapping, sex assault and other charges. He was being held without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

    It’s April 17th and the judge just raised this creep’s bail from $300,000 to $1.5 million. They have him tied to multiple rape cases and with luck he’ll be gone for life when all is said and done.
