Officers found the banged up 2008 Lamborghini Murcielago on the side of La Jolla Village Drive near La Jolla Scenic Drive North about 11:45 p.m. Monday, according to San Diego police.
Witnesses reported seeing the car speeding on Interstate 5 before it flew off the La Jolla Village Drive exit and crashed, police said, adding that witnesses also saw a man and a woman exit the car.
Officers told news photographer Paul Anderegg that they found paperwork in the car showing it was purchased for almost $220,000 just hours before the crash. Police said they were staking out an address listed on the paperwork in hopes of finding the driver.
The driver of the car could face a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge, police said.

Dumb
March 19, 2013 at 9:40 AM
Surely they bought it with their "hard earned" money and now just abandoned it?
Makes sense to me…
March 19, 2013 at 10:11 AM
i'll take it…AS IS!!!
drug induced? or drunk..? probably walked over to Rock Bottom or nearby..
'hey no prob, we get it towed later..after we sober up..let go have another drink.'
March 19, 2013 at 10:18 AM

March 20, 2013 at 11:15 AM

March 19, 2013 at 3:00 PM
you are just another OBAMA fan. Give me 5%. Did you ever think they might have WORKED for their money. Took risks, worked LONG hours. There is a REWARD for working hard and that car is just one of them.
March 19, 2013 at 6:22 PM
Under Obama, the rich are paying for your free health care. Are you saying that isn't enough?
March 19, 2013 at 10:19 AM
They be drunk, that's why.

Money can’t buy brains
March 19, 2013 at 10:44 AM
I agree. Usually when someone abandons a vehicle after a crash it is because they are under the influence. If they leave the scene and go sober up for a day they can then come back and say yes they did leave the scene for whatever reason, scared, didnt have their licence, etc. excpet being under the influence. That way they would only be charged with leaving the scene of an accident and cannot be brought under DUI charges since the police cannot prove they were impared at the time. Thus saving them from jail time, SR-22 increases in insurance, DUI fees, they get to keep their vehicle, get to keep their drivers licence. They would just get off with a fine and some points taken off their licence and maybe a couple other insignificant things..

…and run the risk of someone stealing or smashing into their ride during their absence! Yeah, that's a smart idea!
March 19, 2013 at 11:09 AM
been there, done that….you go home… call cops in the morning and say ''shazam, my car was stolen"….worked for me…. $75 tow charge and good to go…..PS…. as a rule, when the cops, Secret Service…anybody…knocks on your door… you stay quite …and don't answer the door…. they gotta have a warrant to break it down…..
March 19, 2013 at 11:37 AM
money can buy alot but no matter what, you just can't fix stupid, lol…
March 19, 2013 at 12:47 PM
A lot is two words dumbshit!
March 19, 2013 at 8:37 PM
you're critical of "a lot" when the original poster couldn't spell "quiet"? I'm thinking something or some thing struck a nerve..
March 19, 2013 at 11:47 AM
And remember, if they continue to knock and you open the door, shoot for the head in case they are wearing body armor. This works on cops, DEA, CIA, Secret Service, etc. Always, always take the head shot.
March 19, 2013 at 11:59 PM
why would you advocate cold blooded murder because someone is knocking on your door. Oh, I guess it is because you are a felon already.
March 20, 2013 at 7:41 AM
Fag
March 21, 2013 at 11:22 AM
They couldn’t be a felon and have a gun, they’re a felon, duh….Thank you Obummer.

No road head at 110mph.
March 19, 2013 at 12:48 PM
Apparently Fox5 doesn't know the difference between a Gallardo and a Murcielago.
March 19, 2013 at 1:07 PM
Idiots abandon $220K car, and THAT'S what you got from the article?
March 19, 2013 at 3:01 PM
Um hate to point this out, but that is a Murcielago. The Gallardo is smaller and more angular and has a side vent by the rear wheels.
http://www.lamborghini.com/en/models/gallardo-lp-…
Vs the bottom scoop on the Murcielago.
Both are pretty sweet farm tractors.
March 20, 2013 at 2:39 AM
Ron, that's a Murci. Gallardo is a completely different car. I own both and its apparent from even a cursory glance at the headlight shape and side inlets.
March 20, 2013 at 9:10 AM
Shame on those who are not applying even a cursory glance. But wait, you all don't own two of them, do you?
Thankfully Jim is here to announce that he does and to point out the design differences. Whew! What a relief!
Next question: Jim, where do you get your shirts stuffed?
March 19, 2013 at 12:49 PM
It was me I was showing off in front of my date and I lost control of my car. Yes I have full insurance too. I a dummy.

March 19, 2013 at 3:23 PM
Maybe the driver thought the little geico lizard was in the woods and went to go look for him so he can file a claim.
March 19, 2013 at 3:44 PM
Studies show that profound depression is often manifest following a traumatic life event like crashing your new Ferrari. The police should monitor the Social Security Disability office for applicants claiming mental disability purporting tramatization by post Ferrari crash syndrome.
March 19, 2013 at 3:46 PM
undoubtedly covered under obamacare in California.
March 19, 2013 at 6:19 PM

March 19, 2013 at 6:22 PM
Money can buy you a fast car, but not the skills to know how to drive it.
March 19, 2013 at 7:21 PM
220,000 for a 2008 was too much money. Maybe he was just embarrassed.
