How many of these tragic deaths must I see before we ban these trains!? Trains kill people! In a modern world, why would anyone need a train?!

Trains don't kill people you idiot!!

It's the stupid people that play around the tracks that leads to the deaths.

I agree it is tragic that a person died, but a better question may be why are people hanging out on the tracks? Trains are still a viable public transportation option that are used effectively in many US cities and even more-so in other countries. They also move 42 percent of our nation's freight (measured in ton-miles) – most likely including the automobile that you are driving around in. Finally, over 4 times as many pedestrians are killed by cars each year compared to all train-related deaths.

Sorry for all of the stats, but I hate when people post ignorant comments. If you are going to contribute your opinion, at least make it something worthwhile.

"If you are going to contribute your opinion, at least make it something worthwhile."

I don't know, maybe it's just me. But I thought the sarcasm in Bill's post that you clearly overlooked was worthwhile.

Have some compassion…what if that was your family member? Why make such a stupid comment? Not funny…Now go clean your gun and make sure you take the bullets out…
