MCAS MIRAMAR, Calif. — More than 200 Marines with the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing returned home to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Monday morning following a yearlong deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
The Marines began filing off of a chartered jetliner at about 7:50 a.m. and were greeted by family and friends on the flight line at a homecoming ceremony.
While away, the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing provided close air support, air assault and transportation for ground troops.
