SAN DIEGO — A ruptured water main flooded an area in the Chollas Creek area  Friday morning, closing streets and disrupting trolley service.

Police shut down Federal Boulevard between 49th and 50th streets because of the flooding.

Officials, concerned that a sinkhole might be hidden underwater, briefly shut down the Orange Line, but as of 8:30, trains were again running through the area.

Crews were working to shut off the water.

It was not immediately known what caused the pipe to rupture.
