SAN DIEGO – A 5th grader from Kensington now has her face on a billboard towering over Downtown San Diego.  Maria Burritt is a Junior Girls Scout who entered the “Got Milk?” photo contest and finished in the top 3.

Girl Scout BillboardThe California Milk Processing board launched a photo contest for Girl Scouts last November.

The winners would each receive five-hundred dollars and a scholarship to go to a Girl Scout camp of their choice.

Maria’s photo entry pictured her looking through a telescope, studying the stars.

She was holding a glass of milk and enjoying some of her favorite cookies, Thin Mints.

“I love science, and one day hope to become a scientist, so that’s why I made my picture like this”, said Burritt.

And she said her brother, Ricky is her inspiration.

“My brother has epilepsy and autism and I want to be a scientist so that I can come up with a cure for epilepsy and autism.”.

Maria’s billboard, on the corner of 11th Avenue and B Street, will be up for the month of February.
