EL CAJON, Calif. — Investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire that damaged a used car dealership early Wednesday.
The fire was called in at about 1 a.m. by a police patrolman who noticed flames coming from a building at the Rock Auto Group on Main Street.
Nine engines from Hartland Fire, El Cajon, La Mesa, Santee and Cal Fire responded to the blaze. It took 44 firefighters about 20 minutes to control the blaze.
“With a quick aggressive effort we were able to limit the damage to the building involved,” a Heartland Fire official said.
Officials said there was significant damage to the building, but the owner was in the early stages of estimating the actual loss.
