SAN DIEGO — Two men were in custody on suspicion of attempting to burglarize a woman’s College Area apartment early Friday, about a half-hour after two men in ski masks tried to rob a woman on foot in the same area, police said.
The attempted burglary in the 5500 block of 55th Street occurred just after midnight, according to San Diego State University police. The attempted robbery occurred at 55th Street and Mary Lane Drive around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, police said in statement.
The woman in the attempted burglary told investigators someone knocked on her front door and rang the doorbell. She did not answer, then saw a man in a gray hooded sweatshirt attempting to open the balcony door at the rear of her apartment, police said.
The woman ran into another room to call 911 and the man fled on foot, police said.
Shortly before 7 a.m., police announced two men had been arrested in the attempted burglary and no other suspects were outstanding. It was not immediately clear whether the men were believed to be connected to the attempted robbery as well.
The woman in the attempted robbery was walking when the two masked men in dark clothing, one of whom may have had a gun, approached on foot and demanded her cell phone, police said. She told the men she did not have a phone and they fled empty-handed.

What we have here is yet another reason to invest in good home security these days. You just can't be too safe these days, no matter where you are.

I do not know why people do not install any of the security solutions in their house. There is no reason in risking our life by avoiding them. The burglars have become so bold that they do not hesitate in breaking into any house.
