Cops target speeders in East County

la-mesa-policeLA MESA, Calif. – La Mesa police ticketed 29 drivers for speeding, including one who was spotted traveling on a city street at more than double the posted speed limit, during a special enforcement effort Monday.

Officers aggressively targeted speeders during the third “Traffic Safety Enforcement Program,” held over a six-hour period, according to La Mesa police.

“The program relies on heavy enforcement and public education as a means to help reduce deaths and injuries on our local roadways,” according to police.

One of the 29 motorists cited for speeding was caught traveling at 81 mph on a street with a posted speed limit of 35 mph, police said. Officers also cited a motorist who was driving with a suspended license and impounded one vehicle.

Four drivers received verbal warnings for lesser violations, police said.

“These efforts will continue throughout the year and as long as it takes to get the message out to not speed in the city of La Mesa,” police said.

The operation was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

So this means they were picking and choosing who they wanted to pullover this is worse than the DUI checkpoints. They just pick who they want.. I don't speed I don't do anything wrong when I drive.. But it would be a real problem for me if the police pulled me over for something bogus like this.. Oh he was speeding, Oh he had a few other little problems. I AM TIRED OF THE POLICE BREAKING MY CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS AND EVERYONE ELSES. The people who don't see a problem with this are cattle and the police will treat you as such.. They have the term Do as I say NOT AS I DO! Let me ask all of you. The way this is written does it not sound like they were just pulling people over. HOW DID THEY KNOW THE DRIVER HAD A SUSPENDED LICENSE? Didn't say he was speeding just said he had a suspended license..
