SAN DIEGO – The 32nd annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade is scheduled for Sunday afternoon in downtown San Diego.

Participants will include marching bands, educational groups and safety personnel. The parade is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the County Administration Center, 1600 Pacific Highway, and go down North Harbor Drive to Seaport Village.
The event is one of several scheduled this weekend to honor the memory of the slain civil rights leader.

On Monday when many workers are off the 18th annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Breakfast will take place beginning at 7 a.m., at the Joe & Vi Jacobs Center. The keynote speaker for the gathering hosted by the United African American Ministerial Action Council will be Joanne Bland, founder of the National Voting Rights Museum in Selma, Alabama.

At 10 a.m., the 25th annual All People’s Celebration will be held, with scheduled remarks by Mayor Bob Filner. It will take place at the San Diego Public Market, 1735 National Ave. The San Diego Blood Bank and radio station Star 94.1 will host a blood drive at the San Diego Hall of Champions in Balboa Park at 10 a.m.
