Man killed by train near Oceanside

trolley-lightsOCEANSIDE, Calif. – Authorities are trying to determine the identity of  a man who was struck and killed by a freight train in Oceanside.

The man was hit at 10 p.m., by a northbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train at a crossing at Mission Avenue near Cleveland Street, said San Diego sheriff’s Lt. Kevin Menzies. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The county coroner’s office will determine the victim’s identification. The incident remains under investigation.
