SAN DIEGO — Police shot a one person and arrested a second while attempting to serve a warrant Thursday at an apartment complex near San Diego State University.

The shooting took place at about 1 p.m. in the 5000 block of Reservoir Drive behind Alvarado, a police public-affairs Lt. Andra Brown said. An officer reported shooting one of the people being served.

The wounded person’s identity and condition were not immediately available.

Following the gunfire, officers evacuated people from the apartment building where it occurred and searched the complex and surrounding neighborhood for a second suspect. Police also sent officers to lock down Alvarado Hospital. Patients were allowed to enter the hospital, but no one was allowed to leave.

Police found the second suspect shortly before 3 p.m. He was taken into custody without incident.
