OTAY MESA, Calif. – Border officers arrested a man Wednesday after 42 packages of marijuana were found inside a shipment of carrots.

The 310-pounds of marijuana was discovered during an inspection of the 29-year-old man’s 2005 bobtail truck at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry around 7 p.m. Wednesday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers said.

Officers said they became suspicious of the driver and directed him to the cargo facility inspection area.  They ended up finding the pot valued around $500,000 mixed in with the carrot packages.
