The death toll in Sunday’s bus crash near Pendleton climbed to nine, Oregon State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings said.

A tour bus at about 10:30 a.m. lost control on snow and ice on the westbound lanes of Interstate 84 near milepost 227 near Deadman Pass, a few miles from the top of Cabbage Hill. The bus crashed through a guardrail and plunged down a cliff.

About 40 people were on the bus, which was registered to Mi Joo Tour & Travel from Vancouver, British Columbia.
