Gunman robs bank inside Albertsons

ESCONDIDO, Calif. – A gunman wearing a tan fedora robbed a bank branch inside an Escondido supermarket Wednesday, police said.

robberyThe robber demanded money from a teller at the U.S. Bank outlet inside the Albertsons, 1509 E. Valley Parkway, shortly before 10 a.m., according to Escondido police Lt. Mike Loarie. He was gone when police arrived, the lieutenant said.

Police described the robber as an “older” and clean-shaven white man, about 6 feet tall and weighing 140-150 pounds. Beside the hat, he wore a brown jacket and carried a brown bag with a strap.

He may have escaped in a white Ford Ranger pickup truck, Loarie said. Police did not say how much money was stolen.
