CHP: Driver in I-8 crash dies from medical condition

crash-graphicJACUMBA, Calif. — The driver of a vehicle that crashed on a remote stretch of Interstate 8 near the San Diego-Imperial county line died at the scene Wednesday, authorities said.

The man’s vehicle was found overturned in the westbound lane east of Jacumba, according to the California Highway Patrol. The CHP reported that at about 9:45 a.m., the man was still alive.

The preliminary investigation indicated the man died from an unspecified medical condition, not from crash-related injuries, according to Capt. Mike Mohler of Cal Fire.

The victim’s vehicle was found blocking the left westbound lane near the In-Ko-Pah County Park exit, according to the CHP.
