SAN DIEGO — The San Diego State University Aztecs will play the Brigham Young Cougars in this year’s Poinsettia Bowl, school officials said Monday.
The Aztecs finished 9-3 in the regular season and 7-1 in the Mountain West Conference.
“We are honored to be selected to participate in the 2012 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl,” SDSU head coach Rocky Long said. “The Poinsettia Bowl is one of the best events I have ever been involved with and it will be a tremendous experience for our student-athletes.”
The game, held Dec. 20 and Qualcomm Stadium, will be the third straight bowl appearance for The Aztecs. They beat Navy 35-14 in the 2010 Poinsettia Bowl. Last year, they played in the New Orleans Bowl, where they lost 32-30 to the University of Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns
